In the face of the hardest time as a family, I decided that I could do some good in a way that I know how, by designing and creating a sweater. “Part Of Something” is a unisex sweat for adults and children. I will try, to tell you a little about why it means so much to me and Claude and Co.
In August 2016 my niece Phoebe was born, she arrived in the world and we were blown over with unconditional love for this perfect little human. Watching her every move, always wanting to be surrounding her. It was wonderful, and suddenly we couldn’t imagine our world without her in it.
Tragically after nine precious months, in May 2017, Phoebe passed away very suddenly after contracting Pneumococcal Meningitis, which developed into Septicaemia. The pain of loosing her was unreal, the times that followed and continue to, were a shock, cruel and unexpected…to say the least. It is very hard to put into words what the loss of Phoebe meant to us and how much we miss her.
Everyone is different, but in the simplest way I can put it, the world stops and it turns in a different way. Perspectives change, it teaches you to be grateful, to love and cherish the people you’re surrounded by. Everything continues, life carries on - but it has a haze and a pain in the heart that will always be there, some days it hurts more than others, but it always pulls.
One burning feeling from the loss of Phoebe was that she will always be such an important part of us, our story and lives – just as we were to her. She is, and always will be…“Part Of Something”.
When I was trying to think of what I wanted to say on the sweater – it came to me after scribbling some ideas down – and it felt so right. Her message and impact has been so loving and positive on our lives. With the belief that we are all part of something, whatever that might be.
The slogan is positive, full of hope and love. I am sure so many people can relate, not necessarily through loss, but through how much someone will mean to them – your child, your family, your friends.
I decided, with the support of my sister and brother in law that £5, of each adult and child sweater will be directly donated to the Meningitis Research Foundation.
You can find out more about the charity and the work they do by clicking here, https://www.meningitis.org
The charity, alongside many others, helped to gain information, to support and guide in such uncertain times. Guiding through the endless questions of what had happened, and why. The strain of meningitis that Phoebe contracted was not curable, there is no magic cure and no “reason” why it had happened. It was an act of nature of the cruellest kind. Donations from the sweater will be directly going into supporting vital research and giving a chance for a development in the treatment and curability of meningitis – in all forms. The idea that one family in this world might not have to go through the pain of losing a loved one – adult or child is very heart warming.
I really appreciate your support. Any questions please contact me :
